01The problem

I designed a series of polished itinerary PDFs for a birthday trip gift.

The format suggested a product: one good-looking plan that a whole group builds together and keeps afterwards.

02Why it mattered

Planning with other people means deciding things together: what to do, in what order, and who can change what. That calls for real collaboration features — live editing, comments, votes, invites, and permissions — not a file one person sends round.

03My role

I designed and built AdventurePDF end to end, then tested it the hard way, by using it end to end for a trip to the Yukon.

04What I built

  • Real-time editing, built on Firebase
  • Comments and voting
  • Invites and permissions
  • Google sign-in
  • Custom Mapbox maps
  • Place search with Google Places
  • AI itinerary suggestions, using the OpenAI API
  • Trip passports and distance-travelled tracking
  • Printable trip guides that double as keepsakes
  • Stripe payments. The integration works; the account-side billing setup is not finished

Stack: React on Vercel, with Firebase for real-time features and a Neon database.

05How it worked

A trip starts as one shared plan. Everyone in the group can edit it live, comment on stops, and vote on options, with permissions deciding who can change what. Maps, place search, and AI suggestions help fill in the days. At the end, the plan becomes a printable trip guide and a keepsake.

How a trip moves through the product

06Outcome and current status

A working product that I have used end to end for a Yukon trip.

It has no external users or traction yet. Stripe is integrated and works, but the account-side billing setup is not complete.
