Projects / Systems / Products

From business problem
to working system.

I build around real problems — operational bottlenecks, awkward workflows, missing tools, bad user experiences, and ideas that are easier to understand once they exist.

01 / Business operations & systems

Brokerage Operations System

From ad hoc workflows to a shared operating platform.

Employer project · Early-stage Ontario insurance brokerage

Process designWorkflow standardizationTraining & onboardingInternal platformLead management

The problem

An early-stage insurance brokerage was growing faster than its operating infrastructure. Knowledge was spread across people, documents, inboxes, and memory, and staff had no shared way to manage leads, find information, or follow consistent workflows.

My role

I joined in a brokerage role, and the work expanded into business analysis, process design, development, training, and implementation. I learned the workflows, standardized them, trained staff, and designed and built the platform. My formal title was Commercial Insurance Broker.

Outcome

The platform became a central part of daily operations, giving the team a shared place for workflows, resources, lead management, training, and follow-up, during a period of significant growth.

02 / AI, product & business systems

RiskPair

Commercial insurance research and pre-underwriting, guided by AI.

Personally owned project · Live web application · riskpair.com

Domain knowledgeAI-assisted researchWorkflow designProduct development

The problem

Preparing a commercial insurance submission means researching an unfamiliar industry, knowing which questions to ask, gathering property details, and judging which carriers may want the risk.

My role

My own project, separate from the brokerage platform. I defined the broker workflow, combined commercial insurance knowledge with AI research, and built it — first in PHP, then rebuilt in React.

Outcome and status

A working product, tested with selected commercial brokers. There has been no wider rollout, and carrier partnerships were a future concept, not something in place.

03 / Acquisition & implementation

Motorcycle insurance acquisition platform

A customer-facing landing experience and lead-management dashboard that replaced a basic Google Form.

Employer project · Ontario insurance agency · launched 2019

Acquisition designLead managementImplementationTrainingPHP

The problem

A rider-training partner was producing highly qualified prospects, but lead sharing relied on a basic Google Form. The agency needed a better customer-facing experience and a way to assign, track, and follow up on every lead.

My role

I planned, designed, built, maintained, and trained the team on the system, then kept maintaining and expanding it as my responsibilities progressed. I also worked with the partner on the referral links and information materials that fed the lead journey.

Outcome

Launched in 2019, it generated more than 1,000 qualified leads in its first year. Four internal users worked leads through the dashboard: assignment, pipeline tracking, conversion reporting, and follow-up.

04 / Finance & data visualization

TickerTown

The S&P 500 as an interactive 3D city.

Live product · Yahoo Finance data · ticker-town.com

Data visualizationInformation designFinancial data3D interaction

The problem

A table can describe one company. It is much harder to see the whole market at once — relative size, debt, and sector structure.

My role

I designed the visual model and built the working product: the encoding, the 3D city, and the tools for exploring it.

Outcome and status

A complete product, live at ticker-town.com, with every S&P 500 company represented. Sector is the neighbourhood, market cap sets building size, debt sets the foundation, and employee count sets the windows.

05 / SaaS & product

AdventurePDF

Collaborative trip planning that becomes a keepsake.

Live product · Used end to end for a Yukon trip · adventurepdf.com

Product designReal-time collaborationReactFirebaseMapbox

The problem

I designed a series of polished itinerary PDFs as a birthday-trip gift and realized the idea could become a product: one good-looking plan that a whole group builds together.

My role

I designed and built it: real-time editing, comments and voting, permissions, maps, AI suggestions, payments, and printable guides.

Outcome and status

A working product. I have used it end to end to plan a trip to the Yukon. It has no external users or traction yet.

06 / Marketplace & distribution

where.london

A student housing marketplace, built to replace an extremely outdated search experience.

Built in 2019 · Free to use · where.london

Marketplace designCold-start acquisitionDistributionWordPress

The problem

Student housing search at Western relied on an extremely outdated experience. A marketplace only works once landlords and students both show up.

My role

I built it personally in 2019, using WordPress as a practical framework: accounts, maps, messaging, filters, sublets, verification, and notifications. It was mobile friendly from launch. I also contacted roughly 300 landlords from the existing market and invited them to list on the new platform; approximately 15 became initial listers.

Outcome and status

Initially Western-focused, later used by Fanshawe students. Landlords, property managers, students, and parents use it. Essentially no active maintenance since 2019, and it still gets organic use.

SelectiveShutter

A photo-culling app. It imports from a camera or a folder, groups bursts and duplicates, ranks each group with Apple Aesthetics, and proposes the best frame. I can override any pick, and nothing is deleted without confirmation.
